Job DescriptionMain duties and responsibilitiesThe RA will receive regular direct supervision by the PI. While prior experience working in a laboratory environment would be valuable for this position, this is not critical, as specific molecular biology techniques will be taught by the PI. The RA must however have an interest in the molecular underpinnings of cancer, and have an inquisitive mind and a can-do personality.The responsibilities of the RA will be to: * Oversee the experiments relating to the project;
Keep an accurate and contemporaneous log of the experimental procedures attempted as part of the project;
Ensure regular upkeep of laboratory stock lists and equipment;
Work towards the publication of experimental work in scientific journals;
Maintain a safe working environment;
Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.
The PI is willing to teach the applicant molecular biology techniques, and the lack of prior laboratory experience is not a disqualifying criteria for this position. It is however most important for the applicant to have the correct aptitude for the position.QualificationsThe applicant should: * Have a first degree in biology, the life sciences, or in a related field with good results
be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail;
