- Lead a team of traders and oversee regional risk positions, including Bean Equivalent, Structure, and Arbitrage, through effective hedging strategies.
- Manage risk positions to optimise cost inputs for 180,000 MT bean grind, impacting sales prices for intercompany and third-party requirements.
- Drive proprietary trading strategies within pre-approved risk mandates, generating USD 1-3 million annually.
- Develop and implement derivatives strategies for the APAC cocoa business, including hedging, structure exposure, and proprietary trading.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as the Cocoa Bean Sourcing Director, VP Cocoa Asia, and Group Risk, as well as external partners like banks, brokers, and research firms.
- Manage working capital through instruments like swaps and OTCs, partnering with Treasury for credit/financing lines.
- Represent the region as a subject matter expert in cocoa market intelligence and actively participate in global derivatives strategy meetings.
- A degree in Business, Finance, Accountancy, or equivalent.
- 8-10 years of experience in commodity trading and operations, preferably in the agriculture or cocoa/chocolate industry.
- A proven track record of P&L ownership and a strong understanding of the commodities market.
- Proficiency in Python, R, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP.
- Strong industry networks, including trading houses, banks, and certification organisations.
- Exceptional business communication, data analytics, and stakeholder management skills.
- A passion for leadership, integrity, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Fluency in English (a second language is a plus).
- Supervising and managing risk positions to optimise cost inputs and sales prices.
- Developing and executing derivatives strategies to manage cash flows and risk exposure.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to align on sourcing, risk, and market intelligence strategies.
- Monitoring and reconciling physical contracts and futures trades.
- Participating in global strategy meetings and representing the APAC region in cocoa market discussions.
