OVERVIEWOur client is a reputable and long-established shipping company headquartered in Singapore, with a strong footprint in the global maritime industry. As part of its strategic expansion into the Japanese market, the company is seeking a Japanese-speaking Port Captain to join its growing team.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Liaise with port authorities, terminals, and service providers to gather and update port facility information and restrictions.
Provide operational support to vessel operators during port calls.
Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with ports, port officials, terminals and agents.

Coordinate vessel operations during port calls, ensuring smooth turnaround and compliance. * Negotiate competitive rates with stevedores, agents, and other port service providers.

Participate in pre-planning and port meetings with terminal management and stevedores.
Project assistance for chartering, cargo and port inspection.

Optimize cargo stowage and intake planning.

Ensure cargo compliance with IMSBC and Dangerous Goods Code regulations.

Conduct vessel inspections for commercial, vetting, fleet, and QSHE purposes.JOB REQUIREMENTS

Former Chief Officer or Master Mariner with at least 3 years of shore-based experience.
Strong understanding of cargo operations and maritime logistics.
Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English (written and spoken) to liaise with stakeholders.

Ability to work across time zones and adapt to the dynamic nature of the shipping industry.Skilled in supplier sourcing and rate negotiation.Open-minded, storong communicator and positive team player.

Knowledge of additional regional languages is a plus.
