- Qualified lawyer (Singapore is preferable but England and Wales, other Commonwealth jurisdictions and the US will be considered).
- Professional business proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (Simplified Chinese & Traditional Chinese).
- Ideally 3 to 5 years post qualification experience with a reputable law firm and/or relevant MNC.
- Relevant private practice and/or in house experience in content distribution from the Technology, Media, Telecoms and/or IP sectors with strong commercial/industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience of working independently and unsupervised managing a general workload, referring upwards as needed.
- Experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts with an IP focus, rights management and advising on copyright issues.
- Experience and/or understanding of promoting risk management, compliance and sound corporate governance.
- Experience supporting commercial businesses in the APAC region.
- Understanding of the structures and systems within which broadcasters, producers, distributors (whether traditional or non-traditional e.g. digital) operate.
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework particularly in the region within which the business operates.
- A track record of providing proactive, specialist, timely and commercial legal advice and support to senior leaders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to clarify complex issues and concepts for non-lawyers.
- A "can-do" flexible attitude willing to help legal team members and the business wherever support is needed.
- A desire to help support the development of junior members of the Business & Legal affairs team.
- Commercially aware with an understanding of the issues affecting the company and media and production industry generally.
- Plans and implements processes, tools and training to efficiently and effectively empower business teams to manage risk and structure and close deals.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulation.
- Supports dispute resolution processes and strategies.
- Ability to work supportively as a team member and to build and manage relationships at all levels.
- Ability to manage diverse work streams and to apply complex analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure (including, showing initiative, commitment and flexibility when faced with obstacles).
- Provides specialist legal support to major projects.
- Ability to work across multiple time zones, territories and business lines.
- Motivated to develop themselves and to contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
