Meta is seeking a Generator Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Data Center Facility Operations team. Our Data Centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers. The Generator SME will be responsible for being the emergency and back-up generator system operations and maintenance expert, as well as fire alarm safety system. The candidate will need to be experienced in all aspects of generator theory, operations and maintenance of the complete generator system and have a working knowledge of electrical distribution and general mechanical systems. The candidate will also need to be knowledgeable in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems and Fire Protection Systems.Generator Subject Matter Expert ResponsibilitiesServe as technical/consultative resource for Emergency Generators and supporting equipment, Fire Detection and Alarm System and the Fire Protection System with an emphasis on practical/field applicationDiagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain generators, all associated fuel systems, Fire Detection and Alarm System and Fire Protection SystemAssist in authoring processes and proceduresAnalyze data, develop metrics, and identify trends related to generator reliability. Contribute to generator maintenance and repair strategyAssist with regulatory compliance and reporting related to air quality and emissionsOn-site lead for root cause analysis activities in area of expertiseProvide training to critical facility engineers on generators and supporting equipment, Fire Detection and Alarm System and Fire Protection SystemManage generator vendor relationships, scheduling, and work scopeSupervise and validate generator vendor-performed activities (startup, commissioning, maintenance, etc.)Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local SME and EHS teamsOther duties as required to support the operation of Meta data centersMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree or trade certification in related field plus 3+ years relevant industry experience6+ years of experience as a trade or manufacturer generator technician, or 6+ years of generator experience in critical operationsKnowledge of applicable local regulations pertaining to Fuel Storage, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems and Fire Protection systemsKnowledge of power generation and transfer systemsKnowledge of diesel fuel system components, fuel storage and fuel quality managementExperience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environmentExperience in comprehending plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawingsExperience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawingsPreferred QualificationsExperience in a data center or other critical environment (pharma, clean room, medical, power production, etc.)Experience with PLC control systemsExperience with the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of larger capacity Generators and Generator control systemsExperience managing vendor contractsAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
