Reports to: Marine Safety ManagerResponsibilities:Navigational Operations
  • Assist Masters with updates to nautical charts, publications, and ENCs, and offer advice on navigation issues.
  • Keep vessels informed of current national, classification society, and international regulations, as well as internal Company guidelines.
  • Oversee the maintenance and readiness of LSA and FFA equipment.
  • Provide navigational support and information as needed.
Crew Operations
  • Evaluate officers and crew for vessel assignments.
  • Coordinate onboarding and handover processes for senior officers.
  • Address disciplinary matters and liaise with the Crewing Executive Officer on crew performance.
  • Lead briefing sessions before embarkation and debriefs upon return for senior deck officers.
Ship Operations
  • Work with Owners, Charterers, Masters, and Port Agents on crew and operational matters.
  • Carry out ship visits, inspections, and surveys as outlined in Company procedures; report findings to the Marine Safety Manager.
  • Evaluate ISM compliance and issue guidance to enhance vessel safety.
  • Review monthly reports and monitor surveys, ensuring certifications for deck gear, LSA, FFA, and cargo handling equipment are valid.
  • Approve navigational chart and publication requisitions and confirm regulatory alignment.
  • Arrange for ship inspections every six months (±1 month), guided by the VIQ7 checklist.
  • Log any deficiencies found during visits using Form G-06 and verify compliance with PMS requirements.
  • Ensure Masters raise Non-Conformance Reports (Form S-05) for any identified issues.
  • Where feasible, conduct safety meetings during onboard inspections.
Requirements:
  • Holds a valid Master Mariner (Unlimited) Class 1 Certificate of Competency.
  • Minimum of 3 years' sailing experience as Master on VLGC, VLEC, or similar-sized oil tankers.
  • In-depth knowledge of international and local maritime regulations and standards, including ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, IGC, IBC, ISO 9001/14001/45001, and TMSA.
  • Preferably has prior experience in a shore-based marine operations role.
  • Certification as an ISM/ISO/ISPS Auditor and experience with ship vetting by majors is an added advantage.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and communication skills; proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Highly responsible, self-driven, and professional in conduct.
