What the role is:We are looking for resourceful and service-oriented individuals to join the Operations & Facilities Management Department which oversees the operation and maintenance of Government cemeteries, crematoria and columbaria. You will be stationed at a crematorium at Mandai and play a key role in providing after-death care services. This role requires someone who can maintain professionalism and dignity while performing technical duties in an emotionally challenging environment. The ability to balance operational efficiency with sensitivity to grieving families is essential.What you will be working on:Your job responsibilities include:
Receive and verify necessary documents and authorisations before proceeding with cremation and ash collection processes
Operate all cremation related equipment according to strict safety protocols and internal procedures, including cremators, mechanised trolleys, and insertion machines
Handle human remains with utmost respect and care throughout the cremation process, following established protocols for identification and tracking
Ensure all cremation and ash collection records are updated promptly and maintained in accordance with legal requirements and internal procedures
Manage feedback from funeral services providers and next-of-kin.
Coordinate with funeral directors and families to ensure smooth and efficient running of the crematorium operations
Respond promptly to equipment faults and coordinate with relevant parties for rectification.
Maintain the crematorium facilities in a clean, respectful, and dignified condition
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we are looking for:Job Requirements:
Relevant technical experience in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent
Understand cremation equipment operation and maintenance procedures, including safety protocols and environmental compliance requirements
Proficient in record-keeping systems and basic computer applications for maintaining accurate documentation
Strong emotional resilience and ability to maintain professional composure while working in an environment dealing with death and grieving families
Attention to detail and commitment to maintain high standards of accuracy in all procedures
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with bereaved families and funeral service professionals with sensitivity and empathy
Able to work independently and maintain focus while performing duties that require attention and respect
Able to work on rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and occasional lifting
Work environment involves exposure to high-temperature equipment and requires adherence to safety protocols
Must be comfortable working in an environment dealing with remains of deceased persons and grieving families
