The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operations of chemical tankers. The Marine Superintendent will act as the technical and operational liaison between the office and vessels, ensuring adherence to company policies, international maritime regulations, and industry best practices.The Job:
  • Monitor and ensure vessels' compliance with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, OCIMF, CDI/SIRE inspections, flag state, port state, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections, audits, and navigational assessments to ensure safe operations and seaworthiness.
  • Provide guidance and support to onboard Masters and Officers on navigational safety, cargo operations, and emergency preparedness.
  • Oversee preparation and follow-up of vetting inspections, PSC inspections, and third-party audits.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and non-conformities, and ensure timely reporting and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist in voyage planning, cargo stowage, and risk assessments for ship-to-ship (STS) operations, if applicable.
  • Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, and voyage efficiency, working closely with the Technical Superintendent and Operations team.
  • Provide marine-related input during dry-docking, repairs, and retrofitting projects.
  • Organize and conduct safety drills, crew training, and onboard safety campaigns.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of fleet operational standards, safety culture, and environmental performance.
  • Maintain effective communication with Charterers, Class Societies, Flag State Authorities, and other stakeholders.
The Talent:
  • Master Mariner (FG) Certificate of Competency (CoC) with at least 2-3 years sailing experience as Master on Tankers (Product/Chemical/Oil/Gas).
  • Previous shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent in tanker operations is highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry standards (OCIMF, SIRE, CDI, TMSA, etc.).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multicultural crews and shore teams.
  • Proficient in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Willing to travel for vessel visits, inspections, and audits.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, reporting systems, etc.)
