We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technologyThe Senior Manager, Strategic & Commercial Planning, ADC APAC will be responsible for leading the development of detailed strategic plans across Asia Pacific and its sub regions. Specific activities include: defining the process, conducting analyses and developing insights to guide decision-making, assessing strategic options, engaging senior, cross-functional stakeholders to maintain competitive differentiation and achieve growth goals.The resulting plans will be designed to capture all relevant growth opportunities via a structured strategic planning approach that produces actionable plans that can be implemented, tracked, and refined. This position will lead cross-functional teams in the development of such plans and ensure there is a transfer of knowledge in strategic thinking and planning capabilities to enable the entire organization to elevate their ability to identify and capture opportunities for Abbott Diabetes Care.CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for leading the development, execution, and refinement of strategic initiatives to support the growth and transformation of ADC’s business across Asia-Pacific.
  • Conduct fact-based analyses that synthesize industry trends, identify and assess strategic options, and quantify opportunities.

  • Lead the ADC strategic planning process, facilitating senior executive workshops and meetings and coordinating partnerships across the organization.
  • Define key analytical and financial analysis frameworks to conduct analyses and solve business issues.
  • Output includes the development of detailed, actionable strategic plans that will serve as key inputs into annual business plans that are aligned with global and regional priorities.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to identify market opportunities, competitive threats, and emerging trends.
  • Support the DVP in strategic decision-making by providing data-driven insights, strategic frameworks, and scenario analyses.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Area Commercial Director to ensure commercial strategies align with broader business goals.
  • Support Area Commercial Director in defining & managing APAC Product Portfolio roadmap. Work with cross-functional partners to ensure commercial readiness.
  • Coordinate with the Director for Partnerships to identify and evaluate new business models, partnerships, and collaborations in the region.
  • Partner closely with General Managers and Country Leadership teams across APAC to ensure strategic initiatives are grounded in local market realities and executed effectively at the country level.
  • Drive and manage strategic projects including market entry strategies, portfolio optimization, pricing, and go-to-market initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level strategic presentations and updates for internal and external stakeholders, including global leadership.
  • Act as a thought partner to senior leadership and a catalyst for innovation across the APAC business.
  • Be proficient in the application of proven strategic frameworks, including McKinsey 7S, MECE, Issue Trees, Growth-Share Matrix, Advantage Matrix, Transformation Framework, etc.
  • Teach all aspects of strategy development to APAC leadership team and project team members.
  • Own and continuously improve the integrated strategic planning process across ADC
  • Applies structured thinking to a detailed strategic planning process, including the following elements:
  • Market Intelligence & Environmental Scanning
  • Conduct market research on diabetes prevalence, treatment trends, and unmet needs across APAC countries.
  • Analyze competitive landscape: key players, market shares, product portfolios, pricing strategies.
  • Monitor regulatory environments: country-specific medical device regulations, reimbursement policies, and approval timelines.
  • Track macroeconomic and demographic trends: aging populations, urbanization, healthcare spending, and digital health adoption.
  • Internal Business Assessment
  • Evaluate current portfolio performance: sales, margins, market penetration, and customer feedback.
  • Assess operational capabilities: supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, and digital infrastructure.
  • Identify internal strengths and weaknesses using SWOT or capability gap analysis.
  • Review innovation pipeline: R&D progress, clinical trials, and partnerships.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage with regional leadership to align on corporate vision and local market needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: regulatory, medical affairs, marketing, sales, and finance.
  • Consult with external stakeholders: healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, payers, and regulators.
  • Strategic Planning & Prioritization
  • Develop strategic scenarios: base case, aggressive growth, and risk-mitigated plans.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on ROI, feasibility, and alignment with corporate goals.
  • Define KPIs and success metrics for each strategic initiative.
  • Execution Roadmap Development
  • Create a multi-year strategic roadmap with clear milestones, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Align with global and regional leadership on budget, talent, and technology investments.
  • Develop change management plans to support organizational readiness.
  • Risk Management & Compliance
  • Identify regulatory and operational risks: supply chain disruptions, policy changes, IP issues.
  • Develop mitigation strategies: dual sourcing, regulatory advocacy, scenario planning.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, data privacy regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Performance Monitoring & Strategic Reviews
  • Implement dashboards and reporting tools to track progress.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual strategic reviews to adjust plans based on market dynamics.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Life Sciences or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.10+ years of experience in strategy roles, with a strong preference for candidates from top-tier consulting firms (e.g., McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group).Proven track record in leading cross-functional strategic initiatives within healthcare, MedTech, or consumer health sectors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and mathematical modeling skills that enable effective storytelling and gaining deep insights from raw datasets.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with professionalism and influence.
  • Deep understanding of the APAC healthcare market landscape and regulatory environment is highly desirable.
  • Passion for innovation and improving the lives of people living with diabetes.
  • A substantive knowledge of the medical device industry, health care delivery, and managed care/reimbursement markets and the factors that drive them.
  • Strong device business acumen, strategic thinking, commercial focus and customer skills.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration, influence others outside of reporting structure and work collaboratively across a matrix structure.
  • Works closely with country-level, regional, and global cross functional teams. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
