Through the CMA CGM Foundation, the Group acts in humanitarian crises that require an emergency response by mobilizing the Group's shipping and logistics expertise to bring humanitarian supplies around the world.Present in 160 countries through its network of more than 400 offices and 750 warehouses, the Group employs more than 155,000 people worldwide, including 4,000 in Marseilles where its head office is located.Role OverviewWe are looking for a Line Operations Manager, Container Shipping to oversee the end-to-end operations of assigned liner services. This individual contributor role involves working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and reliable service performance.The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with strong operational acumen. Adherence to Joint Working Procedures (JWP) and compliance with all international and local maritime regulations is essential.Key Responsibilities
- Ensure vessel schedules for CMA CGM and partners are effectively managed and optimized
- Manage proforma/structural schedule both for contingency adjustments and permanent to benefit CMA CGM
- Communicate accurate ETA/ETD updates to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Commercial, Vessel Teams, Terminals) to support schedule integrity and recovery
- Support the development of strategic plans to improve schedule reliability in collaboration with Line and Regional teams
- Collaborate with Line and relevant business units to assess and manage extra costs (e.g., fuel consumption, restows, vessel redeployment, and surveys)
- Monitor and track schedule impacts such as off-hires, vessel stoppages, and breakdowns
- Provide support to Masters in vessel operation matters, emergencies, and Marine Crisis Management
- Provide operational support to the Operations Coordination Centre (OCC) and the Ocean Alliance
- Collaborate with ship Masters, Centre Planners, Cargo teams, and Front Line Marine teams to align on marine operational goals
- Identify trends and opportunities for process improvements, especially in ship safety and bunker efficiency
- Ensure compliance with Fleet Control KPIs, focusing on schedule reliability and optimized bunker usage
- Prepare reports for weekly meetings, covering schedule updates, cost implications, and operational insights
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in container shipping, with a strong focus on liner operations; experience in liner operations management is essential
- In-depth knowledge of container vessel operations, including marine procedures, bunkering, and chartering
- Degree from a recognized educational institution or relevant sea-going experience (e.g., serving as a 2nd Engineer on board container vessels)
- Experience in stowage planning and scheduling is a valuable complementary skill set
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiar with specialized software related to vessel scheduling and ship stability calculations
- Proactive and self-motivated, with strong leadership, problem-solving, and prioritization abilities
