About the role Job summary:
  • To review, reconcile and analyse the net revenue streams of the Company's Asia regional entities and to ensure that the monthly net revenue of that stream is reconciled with the accounting system and signed off
  • To be the point of contact for the traders regarding net revenue analysis and reporting, preparing commentaries to explain significant net revenue movements and events
  • To develop efficient controls for new business and enhance existing controls where necessary
  • To liaise with the Consolidation and Accounts team to ensure accounting disclosures and standards are applied correctly
  • To support the ongoing development of the in-house IT system “Suite”, leading individual projects within the wider development plan.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Daily:
  • Liaise with front office (locally and overseas) to understand structure, associated risks and revenue generated and ensure this is reflected accordingly in the trading system
  • Update trade details as required, e.g. addendums, change of origin, cost estimates
  • Control and report the relevant fees, forward curves and market prompts onto the physical trades such that they are valued in accordance with the group’s policy
  • Monitor the position of the hedge book
  • Ensure adherence to control processes, e.g. contracts/addendums are completed and agree to the trading system
  • Resolve queries with Front Office, Operations and Finance
  • Ensure data integrity between the trading and accounting systems, investigating exceptions where necessary
Month end:
  • Provide timely and accurate revenue reporting including a commentary detailing the main revenue drivers for the month
  • Discuss the monthly trading performance with the regional trading directors and Head of Finance, and provide further analysis as required
  • Ensure that the mark to market is posted correctly at trade level for physicals, futures and foreign exchange
  • Agree market differentials with the traders for use in the forward book valuation. Check these differentials against third party market reports
  • Report the new physical trades in the month with the associated revenue
  • Perform month end reconciliation between the net priced physical trade position and futures hedge held by each trade book
  • Perform profitability analysis by location/trade/counterparty
  • Monitor inter-company balances
  • Review the balance sheet, paying particular attention to large or unusual balances
Other:
  • Identify control improvements and efficiency opportunities around the existing processes
  • Assist with the development/testing/implementation of new systems
  • Allocate rolled futures to correct contract number at futures expiry
  • Cover Product Control duties for other desks when required
  • Support the external audit process

  • To be fully conversant with the Employee Handbook and supporting policies, including Health & Safety legislation and fire and emergency procedures.

Experiences & Skillsets
  • 5 years accounting experience – in a business partnering or FP&A role in a similar size organisation
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with interest in developing commercial acumen
  • Appreciation of the long-term nature of our business and ability to develop relationships and personal skills accordingly
  • A strong interest in the commodities industry
  • Ability to display initiative and flexibility in approach to work, be self-motivated and have a confident manner and ambitious outlook
  • To have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • To have strong IT skills and be proficient in Excel and Word and the ability to manipulate large data sets
  • Flexibility to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to perform effectively to strict deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills – ability to keep meticulous records
