What the role is:The Trade Strategy and Security Division (TSSD) in MTI coordinates and develops Singapore's trade and international economic relation strategies and policies, to safeguard and expand Singapore's economic space.What you will be working on:As a Deputy Director in TSSD within the Trade and International Economic Relations (TIER) Cluster of MTI, you will lead a dynamic team of officers, as well as work closely with inter-agency teams that comprise MTI's statutory boards and other agencies such as those in the international relations and security domains, to: • Assess the impact and implications of key cross-cutting and emerging trade and geoeconomic issues on Singapore, as well as develop corresponding strategies and recommendations; • Develop and implement policies and frameworks as the Whole-of-Government lead for economic security matters, that take into account Singapore's offensive and defensive economic and security interests; • Work with new and existing partners to further MTI-TIER cluster's research interests and needs (e.g. to analyse longer-term trade trends and translate policy questions to policy implications); • Drive alignment of strategic priorities and build partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders of MTI-TIER cluster; and • Represent MTI at various high-level inter-agency platforms related to economic, security, and geo-political portfolios.What we are looking for:
Relevant work experience in the Economy Building (EB) domain or area of international relations • Excellent analytical, writing, communication, presentation and strategic thinking skills • Strong stakeholder management skills to engage and influence at various levels • Ability to work effectively across agency boundaries and divisional lines • Proven leadership and supervisory track record • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment • Comfort with economic concepts and data a plus
