ALG is currently hiring a Senior Manager (Global Trade & Compliance) for our client based in Singapore. This role is an exciting permanent position with them.Our client is renowned globally in the aviation & defense sectors.This position is responsible for overseeing global trade compliance activities, with a focus on export controls, strategic goods classification, and technology management. The role ensures alignment with Singapore regulations and U.S. export control frameworks while driving operational processes and classification governance.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead operational oversight of the company's classification strategy and technology management framework.
  • Act as the primary contact for complex trade compliance matters and interface with local authorities where necessary.
  • Establish and implement local global trade processes in alignment with global policy, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Enforce compliance with Singapore's Strategic Goods Control Regulations and U.S. EAR/ITAR laws, including authority to hold/stop shipments where risks are identified.
  • Oversee Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), ECCN, and strategic goods classifications across the APAC region.
  • Serve as classification focal point, driving classifier training, process optimization, and risk-based reviews.
  • Support internal audits, self-assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives related to global trade and customs governance.
  • Develop and deploy training programs aligned with global trade compliance requirements.
  • Support the reporting of trade compliance metrics and risk indicators to global stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with enterprise teams to drive harmonized trade compliance strategies.
Requirements
  • Degree in Foreign Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering (preferred for technical classification).
  • Minimum 5 years in a trade compliance or classification leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with U.S. export control frameworks (ITAR/EAR) and Singapore's Strategic Goods Control Regulations.
  • Strong experience in classification, customs compliance, and trade risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to execute tactically.
  • Prior experience in matrixed, fast-paced environments.
  • Certification as a Strategic Goods Control Officer is a strong advantage.
