- To assist in all aspects of the running of the Sensory Panels. Responsible for following along with the sessions, preparing samples / materials for panel training and profiling per instructions of the panel leader or other panel facilitator.
- To research, source and manage miscellaneous products and materials for research. Responsible for checking that all of the products required are ready for research and to ensure that they are inventoried on arrival and stored correctly. This includes storing and preparing samples for both training and profiling sessions and ensuring sufficient stock volume of general supplies, light bulbs, crackers, disposables etc.
- To be responsible for overall management of product/sample deliveries and oversight of the storage room at the SSC.
- To become familiar with and strive for efficiencies in the preparation required for different sensory methodologies and in particular for panel descriptive profiling sessions including the use of @hand (on the job training will be provided) – being able to prepare/clone and check basic sensory test sessions
- To ensure the Sensory Panel working area is prepared appropriately in good time for each session and cleared/cleaned after.
- To manage day to day activities of support technicians/helper/cleaners where they are available for more basic or routine tasks
- To ensure that all activities carried out comply with basic food hygiene standards in order to work safely within the laboratory. Basic food hygiene training will be provided.
- To assist in the preparation and set up of recruitment screening sessions, making up screening solutions/products, and facilitating the sessions with candidates in the booth area
- To be responsible for running profiling sessions in the booths including preparation of all materials and samples, serving of samples, data collection and cleaning the booths afterwards.
- To monitor the quality of food samples and test procedure and ensure appropriate records are maintained. This includes temperature logs for freezers/fridges, cooking logs, inventory logs with BB/Use by dates.
- To assist the Sensory SRE/Manager or any other member of the Sensory Science Centre with any other tasks as required.
- Responsible for general maintenance and organization of work areas ensuring escalation of any issues if cannot be resolved on own
- Demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft office applications (outlook, word, excel and PowerPoint) through:
- Creation of clear and logically formatted product inventories for every project making use of templates where appropriate
- To collate product detail in PowerPoint format using MMR templates and formatting
- Assist with documentation of project samples by collation of pictures throughout the project cycle – e.g. pictures of pack, product preparation, product serve, references and any other detail relevant for sharing with client or for future understanding by the project team
