They discover, invent and develop, providing a continuously improving response to the Beauty needs and aspirations of consumers, while the products they create are ever more effective, and provide the highest standards of quality and safety.Established in 1990, L'Oréal Singapore has more than 550 employees and a Research & Innovation Center for advanced skin biology, clinical research and open innovation. The SCELSE-L'Oréal Joint Research Lab is responsible for conducting upstream research within the scope of the skin and scalp microbiome. The goal of the research team is to identify innovative concepts and raw materials for the development of novel cosmetic, dermatology, and consumer care products. We are looking for an apprentice to analyze next-gen sequencing data by implementing bioinformatics pipelines and by performing statistical analysis. The analysis will lead to insights into the microbial ecology of the skin microbiome in healthy and diseased conditions.Key Tasks
  • Conduct scientific literature review
  • Implement and fine-tune bioinformatic pipelines, with mentorship guidance, within a defined project
  • Become proficient in statistical analysis and statistical modelling
  • Maintain proper documentation of the research being conducted
  • Communicate project results both in writing and orally to the research team
Who are we looking for?
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (or any related field) or in Computer Science with a strong interest in Biology
  • Prior experience using bioinformatics tools gained through research projects or coursework, is highly desirable
  • Practical experience programming in Linux, Python, and/or R would be a strong asset
  • Enjoys solving technical problems
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal and team skills
  • High level of self-motivation and willingness to learn
