The APAC Regional Tax Counsel is a key advisor on tax law matters in the Asia-Pacific region. This role serves as the central point of contact for all regional tax legal issues, spanning acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, restructurings, disputes, and day-to-day operational tax matters.A major player in the world's energy markets. This organization plays a pivotal role in the exploration, extraction, refining, and distribution of various energy resources. It operates both domestically and internationally, with a strong presence in multiple countries. It is known for its significant contributions to global energy production and distribution.
  • Lead the collection and evaluation of evidence for complex legal proceedings and investigations.
  • Offer specialized expertise to identify and manage tax legal risks.
  • Supervise the gathering of factual evidence for international tax matters, particularly those of high complexity.
  • Manage tax legal research and analysis for decision-making and opinions.
  • Direct the review and preparation of tax legal advice, communicating critical matters to management.
  • Oversee regional tax risk management and collaborate with the Tax Law Department for enterprise-wide risk management.
  • Supervise regional tax counsel and affiliate teams, managing tax-related matters.
  • Review submissions from external counsel and draft responses to government or court communications.
  • Participate in tax governance for regional affiliates, developing and implementing tax controls.
  • Recruit, train, and develop the regional tax counsel team to support global expansion and the evolving tax landscape.
  • Manage tax matters and the tax team in the region.
  • Travel periodically to other regions, including UAE, EU, APAC, and others, to meet with directors, managing counsels, stakeholders, and other members within the Tax Law Department
Experience Requirements :
  • Degree in Laws/ Juris Doctor / Master of Laws in Tax
  • 12 years of PQE and above
  • Experience with Big 4 Accounting firms, or in-house tax department large MNC is an advantage
  • Extensive background in handling acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions, restructurings, and disputes, particularly in cross-border scenarios, is highly desirable.
