Job Description:CNA is looking for a digital journalist to join our news desk. This role is primarily desk-based and focused on developing and delivering stories for CNA's online platforms. You will monitor news developments, write fast and accurate digital stories, and collaborate with editors and multimedia teams to ensure CNA's coverage is timely, authoritative and audience-focused.Responsibilities :
  • Identify and assess newsworthy developments from a wide range of sources, including press releases, social media, agencies, tip-offs and contacts.
  • Write and produce digital news stories, incorporating text, photos, video and graphics to enhance impact and engagement.
  • Gather and verify information through research, observation and interviews, ensuring accuracy and context.
  • Contribute to live blogging coverage of breaking news and major events, providing timely, accurate and compelling updates.
  • Add value to stories by reaching out to relevant newsmakers for comment, reaction and analysis.
  • Pitch ideas for original digital-first stories, including opportunities for on-the-ground reporting when required.
  • Process and adapt wire agency copy to meet CNA's style, adding relevant links, context and visuals.
  • Use social media both as a reporting tool and as a channel to promote CNA's stories and coverage.
Qualifications:Requirements:
  • A degree in Mass Communication, Arts, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English, with the ability to quickly produce clean, accurate copy.
  • Comfortable handling all elements of a digital story, including text, images, video and interactive features.
  • Sound news judgment and the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • An excellent grasp of current affairs and news developments in Singapore and globally.
  • Experience in a newsroom environment, ideally with a focus on online or digital news.
  • Awareness of trends in digital storytelling, audience engagement and social media.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including some weekends and public holidays.
