- High visibility, high profile position with big impact on BD Greater Asia business growth. Liaison between GA Region and WW BUs for Innovation ideas pipeline and NPD portfolio.
- Spearheads innovation strategy and implementation for BD CASAJ (Central Asia South Asia and Japan) Region to drive high growth and high GP for the region.
- Leads cross-functional effort to explore, identify and evaluate innovation opportunities for new products, focusing on key markets such as Japan, Australia/New Zealand, and India.
- Establishes innovation process/structure/governance for CASAJ to support its growth acceleration strategy.
- Connects ideas/opportunities in CASAJ with other markets, e.g. China, US and EU for needle mover projects with large value and high impact.
- Develops innovation ideas pipeline for Interventional, Medical and Life Sciences in alignment with both Worldwide and Regional business strategy with laser focus on high growth space.
- Establishes innovation eco-system with academia, healthcare providers, KOLs, incubators, startups, government agencies, suppliers, etc. in CASAJ for open innovation, co-creation and end-to-end solutions.
- Leads cross-functional effort to deeply understand clinical practice, care setting, market potential in specific disease and therapeutic areas in target countries.
- Responsible for exploring, identifying and evaluating product innovation opportunities and ideas using BioDesign methodology and process.
- Drives cross-functional evaluation of growth opportunities by identifying/validating the underlying clinical needs/pain points, evaluating market size and optimal segmentation, assessing customer willingness-to-pay and adoption, analyzing competition landscape, and identifying the likely regulatory pathway.
- Responsible for assessment and prioritization of opportunities, and development of integrated business case to seek approval from regional and global leadership for NPD project initiation.
- Builds a strong innovation idea pipeline for new product development in alignment with both Regional and WW Business Units through collaboration with relevant functions, e.g. Marketing, R&D, Medical Affairs.
- Actively engages in identifying, nurturing and support of new opportunities, funding sources, and other partnering/acquisition efforts. Employs a customer-centric mindset. Demonstrates visible interaction with external partners, stakeholders, customers and key opinion leaders on behalf of the company.
- Works with GA representatives to WW Business PDTs/ICs to ensure GA Innovation/R&D strategies, investment decisions and budgetary needs are strongly aligned. Facilitates collaborative engagement across internal regional-functional-business unit boundaries.
- Actively participates on BD Innovation Community of Practice, representing GA.
- Minimum Advanced Degree in Science or Engineering
- MBA or clinical experience would be a bonus
- More than 10 years of experience in a role of Strategic Innovation/Strategic Planning/Strategic Marketing/Business Development/Product Marketing/Cross-functional Product Development in the healthcare industry
- Familiar with Stanford BioDesign, hand-on experience using BioDesign process a plus
- Experience in innovation or creative product development processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-function initiatives
- Demonstrated understanding of the medical environment and customers
- Demonstrated ability to develop deep, rigorous, analytical analysis that drives growth opportunity identification, strategy development or technology/product decision making
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify, prioritize and successfully advocate for opportunities to drive growth
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Experience with customer insights, market analysis, financial analysis preferred
