The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) is looking for a motivated and adaptive individual to join us as a Research Fellow to start as soon as possible. This position is funded by a Ministry of Education AcRF Tier 2 grant of Li Yi. The goal of the project is to develop new theory and algorithms for massive datasets, with a particular focus on online algorithms related to numerical linear algebra.The College of Science seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. Travel support is possible.Job Requirements:Ph.D. in theoretical computer science, mathematics, or a relevant areaGood background of probability in theoretical computer scienceResearch experience, as evidenced by a history of relevant publications, is expected. Publications in top venues are highly desired.Research experience in problems related to (1) metric embeddings, (2) non-asymptotic analysis of random matrices or (3) big data algorithms (such as sublinear-time algorithms, streaming algorithms and randomized numerical linear algebra algorithms) would be an advantage, but also welcome applicants with different backgrounds who are keen to apply their knowledge to new problemsExcellent written and spoken communication skillsWe regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTU
