  • Conduct research on electrochemical recovery and separation of critical metals (e.g., Li, Co, Ni, rare earths) from industrial effluents, waste batteries, and desalination brines.
  • Design and optimize electrodes, membranes, and catalysts for selective ion recovery, electrodeposition, and conversion into stable products.
  • Perform operando and in-situ characterization (e.g., XAS, XPS, GIXRD, ICP-OES) to understand reaction mechanisms and guide electrode design.
  • Carry out electrochemical testing (CV, EIS, LSV, chronoamperometry, flow-cell operation) under a range of solution chemistries.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to translate lab findings into scalable recovery processes for sustainable critical metal supply
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Strong expertise in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, or electrode engineering, with demonstrated application to metal-ion recovery, batteries, or separations.
  • Experience with operando or advanced characterization techniques to study electrode processes.
  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, collaborative teamwork, and clear scientific communication.
