(Only applications submitted through this link will be processed.)The Laboratory Assistant Manager/ Manager will support the day-to-day operational, safety and facility management activities of the National GRIP Lab at NUS Enterprise. The Laboratory Assistant Manager/ Manager will help maintain a safe, compliant, and well-functioning laboratory environment for deep-tech startups and research teams.This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in laboratory safety and operations, who are looking to grow their skills and take on increasing responsibility.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSafety Coordination:
- Support the implementation and monitoring of lab safety and best practices, including chemical and biological safety measures.
- Conduct routine lab safety inspections, basic risk assessments, daily safety checks, and report findings.
- Maintain and update safety documentation such as MSDS, SOPs, and training logs.
- Assist in preparing for safety audits, regulatory inspections, and emergency drills.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response supplies.
- Manage procurement and inventory of lab consumables, reagents, PPE, and other materials.
- Track inventory usage, initiate timely replenishment, and assist in procurement processes with vendors and service providers.
- Ensure accurate labeling, storage, and records for all materials and supplies.
- Coordinate safe and compliant disposal of chemical, biological, and hazardous waste; maintain up-to-date disposal records.
- Conduct daily operational checks and maintain a clean, organized, and functional laboratory environment.
- Support the proper operation, routine maintenance, calibration, and servicing of laboratory equipment.
- Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with vendors and keep equipment usage and service records up to date.
- Support equipment training for lab users and address equipment-related troubleshooting
- Assist in delivering lab orientation, safety, and equipment training sessions for new and existing users.
- Maintain accurate training records and help track user competency status.
- Provide guidance to lab users on safe work practices, SOPs, and proper use of equipment and facilities.
- Support the coordination of emergency drills and user briefings to reinforce safety culture within the lab.
- Degree in Science, Engineering, Safety, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in laboratory operations or safety-related roles, preferably in chemical or biological labs.
- Basic understanding of lab safety procedures, PPE, risk assessments, and hazardous materials.
- Familiar with regulatory guidelines and lab safety documentation (e.g., MSDS, SOPs).
