What the role is:The Accountant-General's Department (AGD) plays an important role in making Singapore a better place through Finance. At AGD, we aim to be a future-ready leader in transforming Public Sector finance by putting finance at the heart of our decision-making. We do this through building a strong foundation in providing robust financial systems and processes that serve key stakeholders including our pensioners, vendors and the public sector. Our team of accounting professionals work at AGD and are deployed to the public agencies to deliver a wide range of financial and accounting-related services to the Public Service. Together we play a critical role in helping the Government achieve its fiscal and economic objectives through sound stewardship and governance. You will join AGD's Financial Reporting Branch, under the Financial Reporting & Operations Directorate. This branch handles all various aspects of financial reporting within the Government, ensuring effective management of system modules relating to reporting and security administration, stabilising HRP and overseeing HRP operations.What you will be working on:
You will be provided opportunities to learn about Government's central financial systems, payment systems and related processes, and you will be exposed to working with our IT vendor and other government agencies to translate business needs into system requirements and policy/initiative execution via systems. You will learn about project management and be exposed to stakeholder management and also assist in performing UAT testing and provide support in the preparation, coordination and migration of system projects. • You will also be involved in daily operational work. From the understanding that you have obtained, you will propose methods to improve efficiency and/or automate processes using macro/RPA/Python. • Lastly, you will be supporting the implementation of WOG COA for Ministries on central financial systems by assisting in the UAT testing for the changes that will be put through. It is a once-in-lifetime experience whereby an organisation changes the chart of accounts (COA) as it uses the financial system, as most of the time data migration takes place when an organisation changes from an old system to a new one.
