UWCSEA Phoenix Swim Team seeks an experienced and forward-thinking Aquatics Coach, ideally with a speciality in Water Polo.Reporting to the Head of Aquatics, the incumbent should display initiative and confidence, particularly when coaching the Water Polo, Junior Squads and Learn to Swim programmes. Competent to assist at all age ranges throughout K1 to G12. The appropriate person should be dynamic and able to adapt to our ever-changing and growing swim programme within the context of an International School setting.Main ResponsibilitiesCoaching:
  • Work with team members to achieve a common goal and improve as a team.
  • Lead Water Polo Coach
  • Coach within Junior Swim Squad Program
  • Teach within the Learn to Swim program
  • Act as a support Coach with the Senior Squads when necessary.
  • Prepare, plan and deliver technically sound session plans in line with the overall program philosophy and plan.
  • Monitor student attendance/progress and provide feedback to parents periodically
  • Manage & achieve targets based on annual plans.
  • Assist PE teachers with delivering PE lessons during swim units throughout the school year.
  • Look at every setback during coaching as an opportunity to learn and improve.
Operational:
  • Ensure the pool area is safe, secure and presentable at all times.
  • Maintain necessary administrative log records and arrange setup and clearing of equipment for swim classes and swim events.
  • Maintain the Equipment checklist and report to the Head of Aquatics any concerns.
Administrative:
  • Assist in coordinating pre-season assessments, registrations, trials, and class allocations.
  • Assist with the sign-up process.
  • Respond to and follow up on any parent enquiries by email and telephone.
Hosting Meets and Invitationals:
  • Attend and coach at meets in which the Aquatics Team is competing.
  • Plan sessions and track athletes’ performance.
  • Assist in ensuring competitions can be run smoothly.
  • Assist in liaising with parent volunteers and High School volunteers and provide direction and guidance to their supporting role.
Person Specifications
  • Level 2 Coach or UKCC Level 2 certified or International equivalent
  • Qualified Coach with a minimum of 2 years of experience coaching
  • Certified First Aider
  • Computer-literate and familiar with Gmail and Google platforms
  • Confident in using social media responsibly as a tool to promote learning
  • Able to work with children of different age groups
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask and work independently
  • Confidently communicate with International School parents and staff. This will include regular public speaking, daily e-mail communication and an understanding of the International School environment.
