Evaluate risk for new business & renewals in accordance with standards, to ensure profitable growthActively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriatelyPerform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metAdhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risks and maximize efficiencyDevelop and maintain good working relationships with all customers, intermediaries and internal stakeholdersBuild strong knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting acceptance levels, systems and organizational guidelinesAbout youDegree or equivalent qualification preferableWorking experience with substantial experience gained within the insurance industryThorough understanding of class specific underwriting and procedure and reinsurance knowledgeUse of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss modelsStrong organizational, prioritization, interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skillsAbility to analyze data and use for decision-makingStrong attention to detailIntermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packagesEstablished customer/broker relationships would be an assetStrong level of numeracy and literacy skills would be an assetExtensive knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolio would be an assetAbout QBEWhat if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world?At QBE, we’re enabling a more resilient future – for our customers, communities, environment, and for our people.
