The Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) was jointly established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2013. As a renowned research institute, ATMRI focuses on finding innovative solutions to advance air traffic management (ATM) and catalyze the transformation of ATM systems in the region. The institute is at the forefront of research, integrating advanced AI, data analytics, and human-centered approaches to enable next-generation ATM systems.We are seeking a Research Engineer II (GUI & Visualization) to conduct innovative research in air traffic management, especially on the development of simulation environment and controller enhancement tools for air traffic management to support human in the loop experiments and proof of concepts up to Technology Readiness Level 4. The key responsibilities involved will include:Key Responsibilities:Build a PoC GUI client to display real-time aircraft state, route, and conflictsImplement interactive tools such as drag-and-drop strip editors, coordination dialogsVisualize radar/sector overlays and aircraft labels using PyQt or lightweight ReactConsume REST/WebSocket APIs for updates from the Coordination ServerWork with Simulation and Backend Engineers to visualize test aircraft trajectoriesBuild testable UI components and logs for scenario demonstrationRequirements:Minimally Bachelor in Computer Science or related fields, with over 6 years of experience.Strong experience with either PyQt5/PySide2 or React.jsPrior experience visualizing real-time spatial or simulation dataDeep understanding of UI state management and asynchronous updates (WebSocket/polling)Proficient in REST API integration and basic UX designKnowledge on GIS/aviation data (e.g. GeoJSON visualization, radar overlays) is advantageousWe regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTU
