Focus on the design, modeling, materials selection, prototyping, and testing of cartridges and subsystems. Strong interest in the full product development cycle, from early innovation and architecture stages through manufacturing transfer and commercialization. Collaborate cross-sites with ID/UX, Mechanical, Systems, Fluidics, Assay teams & instrument module leads in Singapore and US.The candidate requires a good mix of extensive education and practical experience in cartridge design and engineering (including CAD skills).Role and Responsibilities:Drive requirements definition and architecture development for complex high-volume consumable/disposable devices integrating microfluidics, chemistry and sensing.Design, analyze, assemble and qualify consumable/disposable devices, both in prototype quantities and in support of pilot and full-scale manufacturing.Support selection and qualification of critical suppliers/partners for product development and manufacturing.Perform feasibility studies for throughput, reliability, cost, ergonomics, and product quality.Perform user experience and industrial design studies, and align design with brand working in conjunction with internal and external partners.Define specifications, critical parameters, test plans, SPC metrics and QC approaches.Perform analysis in support of key manufacturing decisions, including make/buy and tooling strategies.Travel to learn the technology and work with the US design teams.All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities.Skills and Experience:Proficient in using SolidWorks, has 5+ years of product development experience within an R&D or new product development group in complex high-volume products. Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Expert designing plastic parts and assemblies with significant human factors considerations. Manage development of related manufacturing processes, including plastic molding and bonding/joining methods.Knowledgeable and experienced in Plastics, Manufacturing Methods (injection molding, blow molding, extrusion), Assembly Methods (heat staking, Laser welding, pressure-sensitive adhesive).Experience developing products integrating microfluidics, chemistry/assay and sensing components.In depth knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT), hands-on experience with high-volume manufacturing processes.Experience in leading or contributing to a structured development process in a highly collaborative cross-disciplinary team environment.
