Accept ClosePress Tab to Move to Skip to Content LinkSearch JobsJob DescriptionJob Title: Research Fellow (Microbial Biosensors and Live Therapeutics)Posting Start Date: 17/07/2025Job Description:Job DescriptionWe are seeking one (1) talented postdoctoral researchers to join the Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme (TRP) at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Synthetic Biology TRP seeks to repurpose synthetic biology for positive clinical impact, specifically by developing therapeutic cells against human disease, enhancing the functional living of human beings, and promoting planetary health.The Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team to develop microbial biosensors and live therapeutics. Appointments will be initially made on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension.Responsibilities: * Design synthetic genetic circuits and engineer microbial strains for biosensor and therapeutic applications;
  • Develop and apply high-throughput strain engineering and screening workflows to optimize genetic constructs and characterize strain libraries;
  • Mentor research assistants, graduate, and undergraduate students;
  • Assist in any other duties delegated by the Principal Investigator and group leaders.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will: * Hold a PhD in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field;
  • Possess strong hands-on experience in genetic circuit design, microbial strain engineering, and molecular biology techniques;
  • Be proficient in designing and conducting experiments involving gene and protein expression, microbial cultivation, and data analysis;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high level of scientific rigor and attention to detail;
  • Have a track record of publications in reputable international journals.
Highly desirable: * Experience with high-throughput genetic engineering and screening platforms (e.g., multiplex genome editing, or automation);
  • Familiarity with biosensor development or live microbial therapeutics.
