Primary Details Time Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeTo provide underwriting, technical support, assist in the development and management of a profitable business portfolio under the specified insurance class according to the Company’s guidelines and delegated authorities.The Opportunity
  • Contribute to the achievement of operational objectives for the underwriting function and/or business unit
  • Contribute to the development the annual business plan for the portfolio, monitor and report on progress, identify deviations, recommend remedial action and implement it, in order to achieve business objectives
  • Participate in meetings, as required, to contribute and support the development of strategy, share knowledge and best practice
  • Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
  • Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risks and maximize efficiency with contribution to continuous quality improvement processes
Your New Role
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all customers, intermediaries and internal stakeholders
  • Actively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriately
  • Evaluate risk for new business in accordance with standards, to ensure profitable growth
  • Identify new business opportunities and self-insurance prospects
  • Establish appropriate measurement techniques and reporting systems
  • Build strong knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting acceptance levels, systems and organizational guidelines
  • Contribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes
About You
  • Act as a technical expert to support the identification of issues and opportunities within the specified insurance class and provide efficient and timely service to brokers and clients
  • Motivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviors and management best practice so as to support the achievement of business goals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to analyze data use for decision-making with commercial acumen
  • 10+ years of underwriting experience
  • Established customer/broker relationships
