The incumbent will lead and support projects exploring RNA modifications, splicing, phase separation, and RNA-related disease mechanisms, utilizing advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques, high-throughput sequencing, and proteomics. The ultimate goal is to uncover therapeutic targets and novel strategies for combating RNA-related diseases.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch Execution
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments to study RNA flux, RNA-protein interactions, RNA modifications, and splicing changes under stress and disease conditions.
  • Investigate the molecular mechanisms of endogenous damaged RNA and exogenous viral RNA responses.
  • Apply and further develop the lab's novel FANCI method to study RNA condensates and stress granules.
  • Perform advanced assays such as iCLIP, RNA-seq, phase separation assays, and proteomic analysis (mass spectrometry).
Scientific Contribution
  • Contribute to the discovery and characterization of RNA condensates (e.g., DHX9 stress granules) and their roles in cytoprotection, immune signaling, and autophagy.
  • Elucidate the roles of CSNK1E, PLCB2, and other regulators in antiviral immune responses using cell models, animal models, and patient-derived samples.
  • Drive hypothesis-driven projects to uncover new RNA-related disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Collaborate with internal and external researchers on interdisciplinary projects.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students, research assistants, and interns in the lab.
Knowledge Dissemination
  • Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Contribute to grant writing and research proposals to secure funding.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields.
  • Strong background in RNA biology, RNA-protein interactions, or cellular stress responses.
  • Proficiency in molecular and cell biology techniques (RNA-seq, CRISPR/Cas9, immunofluorescence, RNA immunoprecipitation, etc.).
  • Experience with RNA-centric technologies (e.g., iCLIP, RIP, phase separation assays) and/or proteomics (mass spectrometry) will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience with animal models and handling patient-derived samples preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proven publication track record in reputable journals.
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
