The Global Response Operations organisation within Global Operations responds to real-time crises, proactively identifies and evaluates emerging risks, conducts risk-related investigations, and assesses what we could be doing to best benefit our community. By understanding and consistently managing incidents and real-time crises to resolution, the organisation drives continuous improvement with partner teams across Meta. The Detection team within Global Response Operations is focused on detecting emerging on-platform risks that pose harm to our community and businesses on our platform. We identify, investigate and understand those risks. We partner closely with other Global Response Operations teams, Policy, Product and Process teams to mitigate those risks. We are looking for someone who has a passion for identifying risks and investigating to understand where and how these are manifesting on our platforms. A successful candidate possesses investigative skills and can work in ambiguous and experimental settings - we are looking for a self-starter who can work with loosely defined problem statements and nascent processes. This role may involve exposure to potentially graphic and/or objectionable content including but not limited to graphic images, videos, audio and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other potential objectionable material, like child exploitation, graphic violence, self-injury, animal abuse, and other content which may be considered offensive or disturbing.Global Response Operations - Detection ResponsibilitiesDrive the scoping & development of signals for key problem areas/abusesIdentify emerging risks using on-platform and off-platform signals, through monitoring & analysisConduct investigations to understand potential emerging trends and evolving risks in priority areasWork cross-functionally to drive mitigation for identified risk areas, including conducting enforcement on violating trendsBuild and execute risk detection initiatives to support the management of critical events, such as elections and crisesUse data and internal tools to identify and investigate potential risk areas and patterns at scale and across abuse typesUse quantitative & qualitative research methods to perform root cause analyses on investigative findings or high priority escalationsPartner with internal experts to build understanding of how, where, and why a variety of abuse are experienced across the platformSynthesise investigative findings through the creation of analysis and presentations that provide a succinct, coherent narrative assessing riskInfluence and support innovation of technology, as well as adoption of technical solutions, that improves the team's capability to detect (efficiency, speed, and reduction on language dependence)Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in investigations, data analytics or technical systems roles in Trust & Safety or Risk Operations5+ years experience in investigations, data analytics or technical systems roles in Trust & Safety or Risk OperationsAnalytical thinking and problem solving experienceProficiency in SQLExperience working with complex data sets and an aptitude for identifying and analyzing risks using data skillsExperience with communicating progress and outputs to both technical and non-technical audiencesExperience prioritizing across multiple functions and tasksPreferred QualificationsExperience with additional scripting languages and statistical analysis tools e.g. Python, PHP, R is a bonusExperience in actor behaviour investigation methodologiesAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
