The Complex Systems Science @ NTU (led by A/Prof Cheong Kang Hao) is looking for passionate individuals to join our research team. We welcome applicants with a doctoral degree (PhD) for the Research Fellow position in various backgrounds such as AI in education, deep learning, educational psychology, computer science and related fields.Join our team on an exciting opportunity to develop a state-of-the-art Adaptive Learning Platform for higher education. This project focuses on leveraging AI to transform the educational experience in key academic areas. Our aim is to create a versatile, AI-driven platform that personalizes learning and adapts to diverse curricular needs. It not only generates unique mathematical problems but auto-grades responses. This initiative holds great potential for scalability and significant impact on student learning outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of this research project.Key Responsibilities:Conduct independent researchHandle grant-related administrative tasks (e.g., prepare and amend ethics documents)Conduct literature reviews, and prepare research progress reports and policy reports for stakeholdersSupervise and lead a team of full-time and part-time research staffPlay a central role in coordinating and running of an educational research projectDevelop and/or manage data analysis pipelinesCoordinate between and liaising with faculty, collaborators, and stakeholders from different disciplinesCarry any other duties as required by PI and co-PI(s)Job Requirements:PhD degree in AI in education, deep learning, educational psychology, computer science and related fieldsExcellent oral and written communication skills with good command of the English language to perform literature reviews and write progress and research reportsKnowledge and experience in social science research methodologiesGood statistical knowledge and skills, including familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS and R)Familiar with coding (e.g., in R, MATLAB, Python)Experience with research project management and supervision of research staff and studentsExcellent organizational skills, project coordination and administration skills (e.g., in data management and storage), and able to work within tight deadlinesGood leadership skillsSelf-directed learner who can effectively picks up relevant skills as neededSelf-motivated, able to work independently to collect data, analyse data, and communicate findingsExperience with dissemination of research findings (e.g., conference presentations and research reports) and academic publication processes will be preferredSolid understanding and practical experience in machine learning and deep learning techniques, with a focus on implementing and optimizing these technologiesProficient in BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers), demonstrating a strong grasp of its applications and functionalitiesWe regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.Hiring Institution: NTU
