This role supports the Senior Legal Counsel in taking care of the legal matters of AIA Singapore and its subsidiaries to ensure robust risk management.
Primary focus will be on providing legal support and advice on general corporate and commercial matters, including vendor contracts and general regulations related to Financial Institutions. Legal advisory in the distribution of investment products as regulated under the Insurance Act and Financial Advisers Act.Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide legal advice and support on business and operational activities primarily in the areas of insurance, claims, product, distribution, data protection/ privacy, regulatory compliance, disputes and general corporate commercial matters, including instructing and managing external counsel as appropriate. This will include the drafting, review and negotiation of various types of documents. [70%]
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, including new business initiatives and transactions. [30%]
Key Requirements:
  • A law degree from a recognized university, Admitted to the Singapore Bar (or Commonwealth equivalent), and of good standing
  • familiar with local regulations pertaining to the insurance and financial advisory industry such as MAS and LIA regulations and guidelines.
  • At least 4-7 years PQE, of which at least 3 were spent in practice/at a law firm.
  • In-house experience at a regulated financial institution in Singapore preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills – willingness and ability to quickly pinpoint issues, follow up systematically and work with stakeholders to resolve.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with stakeholders across different levels of seniority as well as external parties.
  • Able to work well under time pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A quick learner with a can-do, positive mentality and resilient
  • Humble, resourceful, adaptable and meticulous.
