Job Description:Key Role ResponsibilitiesThe Business Analyst will work across small change and projects, and will be responsible for the following areas:
  • Position Purpose/Responsibilities:
  • Acting as Allegro & ZEMA SME primarily with a focus on Middle/Back Office processes including portfolio valuations (pricing, P&L, MTM and risk exposure), settlements and resulting cashflows & accruals.
  • Understanding of Market Data and how its managed (price indices, forward curves, correlations, volatilities, etc)
  • Understanding PL reports such as PL explained and exposure reports and helping to resolve any issues reported.
  • Understanding of Coal, LNG and Freight business processes across physical and derivative products.
  • Working closely with our London based team to add value to each other's tasks as well as gaining a greater insight for colleagues based in Singapore.
  • Proposing and implementing innovative, more accurate and more efficient processes and calculation methods.
  • Operational Support, Small Change and Projects:
  • Acting as C/ETRM product owner with detailed knowledge of how the system is used and how it works. Analysing problems, identifying root causes, proposing solution options, and agreeing changes.
  • Working with users to identify their requirements.
  • Testing configuration changes or small code fixes.
  • Creating worked examples or mock-ups.
  • Performing hands-on system analysis to identify change requirements via configuration or code.
  • Documenting requirements in a structured way using plain English.
  • Documenting system change requests through user-stories or more traditional System Change Specification documents (e.g. where changes will be delivered via vendor teams)
  • Working with other members of the IT team or vendors to estimate changes and create a plan for their delivery.
  • Running prioritisation and status update meetings with other IT teams and users
  • Working as proxy ‘Product Owner' as part of the IT delivery team during development and unit testing
  • Performing Functional Testing and working with QA to create test plans/scripts
  • Performing regression testing as and when large releases overwhelm QA
  • Running training for Business and other IT Teams and UAT
  • Supporting release planning and go-live
  • Helping users hands-on with questions and 3rd line Support
  • Creating user documentation and providing hyper-care
The Business Analyst will be required to be proactive in engaging with users and working with them in a collaborative and open manner. They must be able to communicate effectively and be comfortable running meetings to get consensus on how to approach complicated problems across large groups. They will be expected to use JERAGM IT processes and tools including Confluence, JIRA and ZEPHYR.They must be comfortable and adapt their style as needed to work effectively in different types of IT delivery team including:
  • Small agile teams e.g. working independently in a DevOps mode with JERAGM IT Support or JERAGM Developers
  • Large IT/vendor teams with a PM e.g. working in a hybrid JERAGM / Allegro team following a controlled process to plan, build, test and release large changes.
They will be required to be a self-starter and effective at working independently. Their analysis work must be structured and methodical, at the same time as taking a pragmatic approach to problem solving.Qualifications:Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in numerate subject or equivalent professional qualification
  • 5 years' experience as an IT Business Analyst or MO or BO Analyst within a trading house, investment bank, or through a tier-1 vendor/consultancy
  • Experience in Commodities Trading (preferably, including physical LNG, Coal, Freight or Oil)
  • Experience in running and interpreting trading portfolio valuations (pricing, P&L, MTM and risk exposure) as well as hands-on experience of one or more C/ETRM systems such as Endur, Allegro, Aspect, etc.
  • Experience in managing Market Data and working with applications such as ZEMA, Market View, etc.
  • Experience in analysing trade data (such as pricing, risk exposures and P&L) using analytical tools (such as SQL, PowerQuery, Power BI, Excel).
