
Staff Facilities Engineer (Electrical)

- Good experience in Facilities Support System such as ACMV, HVAC, Mechanical and Electrical System is required. System includes Compressed Dry Air, Nitrogen, Clean Room, Chilled Water, Waste Treatment etc.
- Provide technical leadership for the design, specification, installation, and
- Lead and support projects involving various voltage power distribution, standby power systems, lighting, grounding, and equipment wiring.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with applicable codes
- Support facility upgrades, lab renovations, and utility expansions to meet evolving R&D and manufacturing needs.
- Conduct electrical load analysis, reliability assessments, and risk mitigation for critical systems (e.g., cleanrooms, HVAC, freezers, UPS systems).
- Develop preventive maintenance plans and support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical system failures.
- Ensure designs comply with cGMP, FDA, and environmental health and safety requirements.
- Maintain and update facility electrical drawings, documentation, and change control records.
- Collaborate with the engineering team and key process owners, lead and implement strategic business improvement processes, policies and procedures.
- Lead and support of multi-functional efforts in engineering improvement, data capture and analysis, infrastructure support, and compliance with procedures, etc.
- Act as advisor on best practices by performing research and planning related to future initiatives.
- Leads engineering improvement initiatives through the disciplined use of measurements, accountability, analysis and discussion of engineering alternatives in order to arrive at best practices.
- Facilitator and consultant role to solve complex problem situations or conduct engineering study to identify bottle necks, inefficiencies and propose areas for improvement.
- Develop a sustainable Singapore Engineering Design Standards.
- Perform role of engineering project management for APAC regions to plan, lead and manage implementation of a specialized projects initiated from Facilities organization.
- Implement Continuous Improvement recommendations for optimizing engineering processes.
- Utilize analytics to provide fault detection and diagnostics of building control systems.
- Keeping abreast and updated on latest technologies and implement potential initiatives into existing designs.
- Perform Capacities and Capabilities efficiency management and optimization.
- Adopting Digitalization to optimize Engineering requirements.
- Support Facilities Projects and Operations Team on turnkey and infrastructure projects on Engineering specification and requirement.
- Regional lead in global and local Engineering Standards alignment and initiatives.
- Actively seek opportunities for continuously improving the specialist knowledge within own functional area.
- Management of contractors on outsourced services to ensure fulfillment of contracts terms and agreements.
- Plan, organize and ensure operation and system is operating at its highest efficiency.
- Ensure that all company procedures and policies are complied and carried out accordingly.
- Initiate execution and management of in-house projects.
- Participate in ISO, OHSAS, FDA certification programs.
- Participate in Facilities System and Equipment Validation projects.
- Support EHS and Security work scopes and projects.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers for knowledge sharing and improvement.
- Support Illumina Sustainability and CSR efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong Electrical engineering background and working experience, preferably in Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Semiconductor facilities environment.
- Demonstrate leadership, self-initiative, broad-based and structured thinking process.
- A PE (Professional Engineer) certification will be advantageous
- Competent in Singapore Standards, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and with all levels.
- Ability to manage urgent and complex tasks simultaneously.
- Must be a natural team player with the ability to coordinate and liaise with stakeholders across multiple business areas and regions.

- Experience in delivery of change programs incorporating engineering improvement and optimization using industry standard tools.
- Experience in application and utilizing of technologies to drive process and efficiency improvement is a requisite.
- Must be prepared to work overtime when necessary.
- Must have proficiency with various software applications programs including SAP, EAM, BMS, EMS, MS Excel, Word, and Power Point etc.
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
