It collaborates with various multinational and local companies in the precision engineering, medtech, aerospace, automotive, marine, oil & gas, electronics, semiconductor, logistics, and other sectors.Job DescriptionAbout the RoleMetal additive manufacturing (AM) is transforming how we design and fabricate high-performance components across aerospace, energy, biomedical, and semiconductor sectors. Our research sits at the forefront of this transformation, focusing on the design, printing, and optimization of advanced metallic structures using laser and electron beam powder bed fusion techniques. In particular, we explore:High-performance alloy development (including multi-principal element alloys),Process–microstructure–property correlations,Machine learning-based defect prediction,And digital solutions to streamline AM R&D workflows.We are seeking motivated and technically capable interns to join our interdisciplinary team. You will contribute to cutting-edge research in one or more of the following areas:Data-driven process optimization for AM,Defect detection using machine learning and in-situ monitoring,Microstructure characterization and mechanical property evaluation,Digital automation and data pipeline development for metal 3D printing workflows.This role is ideal for students who are eager to gain real-world experience in an R&D setting that integrates materials science, mechanical engineering, software development, and artificial intelligence.ResponsibilitiesSupport the setup and execution of metal 3D printing experiments (L-PBF, E-PBF).Assist in preprocessing tasks such as data preparation and parameter setup.Contribute to post-build characterization (e.g., microscopy, XCT, mechanical testing).Participate in the development of automation or ML pipelines for defect prediction or quality analysis.Document experimental procedures, results, and findings in a structured and reproducible format.RequirementsEducational Background: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Mechatronics, AI/ML, or a related discipline.Technical Skills (depending on project area):Basic understanding of additive manufacturing processes and metallic materials.Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for automation or ML workflows.Experience with image analysis, XCT data, or ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) is a plus.What We OfferExposure to real-world research problems and industrial-grade AM equipment.Mentorship from experienced researchers in additive manufacturing and AI.Opportunities to co-author technical reports or research papers.A collaborative, interdisciplinary work environment with strong learning potential.Application ProcessPlease submit:A CV outlining your academic background and relevant experience.A short cover letter describing your interest and how your skills align with this internship.Application InstructionsDeadline to Apply: 21 August 2025 Submit Applications to: ;Kindly note that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
