- Occasional after-hours work is requiredJob DescriptionThe Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) operates a high-tech satellite ground station at the National University of Singapore. The Centre operates multiple dish antennas that track, receive and process data from remote sensing satellites orbiting the planet and conducts active research programmes on optical, infrared and microwave remote sensing.The antennas and systems at CRISP are key to Singapore's ability to communicate with our satellites in orbit, and a diligent maintenance regime is essential to keeping them in good shape. In this role, you will participate in the planning and safe execution of a wide range of maintenance activities, including antennas and control systems, signal and data cable inspections, IT systems monitoring, infrastructure and facilities maintenance, server room equipment maintenance, etc. You may also have the opportunity to communicate with satellites and monitor the quality of the communications links.The role will require you to :
- Assist in the maintenance of CRISP systems such as antennas, computers, facilities, etc.
- Support the monitoring of CRISP systems to detect faults quickly.
- Help to troubleshoot and fix faulty equipment and systems.
- When training is successfully completed, participate in the control of satellites.
- Assist in occasional administrative tasks such as stock checks, spares accounting, etc.
