Accept ClosePress Tab to Move to Skip to Content LinkSearch JobsJob DescriptionJob Title: Research Fellow (Protein Engineering)Posting Start Date: 17/07/2025Job Description:Job DescriptionWe are seeking one (1) talented postdoctoral researchers to join the Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme (TRP) at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Synthetic Biology TRP seeks to repurpose synthetic biology for positive clinical impact, specifically by developing therapeutic cells against human disease, enhancing the functional living of human beings, and promoting planetary health.The Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team in the area of protein engineering and assay development for diagnostics and therapeutic applications. Appointments will be initially made on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension.Responsibilities: * Design, construct, and screen protein libraries to enhance functional properties, including activity, specificity, and stability;
  • Develop and optimize quantitative biochemical assays for detection and characterization of target biomarkers;
  • Implement and apply high-throughput protein engineering workflows, including automated screening and data analysis;
  • Mentor research assistants, graduate, and undergraduate students;
  • Assist in any other duties delegated by the Principal Investigator and group leaders.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will: * Hold a PhD in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field;
  • Proven expertise in recombinant protein expression, purification, and biochemical characterization;
  • Experience with rational or other protein design strategies;
  • Strong skills in assay development, optimization, and data analysis;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high level of scientific rigor and attention to detail;
  • Have a track record of publications in reputable international journals.
Highly desirable: * Experience with high-throughput screening platforms;
  • Familiarity with computational protein design tools.
