As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.The Candidate will be working on dynamic modelling and simulation of the powertrain of a full electric tug vessel, mainly using MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation models will be used to investigate the steady state and transient behaviour of the ship's electric propulsion system.Key Responsibilities
  • Development of dynamic models of the ship's electrical propulsion system including energy storage systems.
  • Investigate steady-state and transient behaviours of an all-electric ship's electrical system in various operational scenarios.
  • Carry out mission-specific electrical power consumption analysis
  • Electrical propulsion and ESS design optimization.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
  • Other relevant disciplines are welcome to apply
  • Background in programming languages and related research project experience is ideal
