Chief Operating Officer
Location: SingaporeTo successfully lead and direct the organization’s operations and procedures in order to achieve business efficiency, sustainable profitability and business growthReports to Executive Chairman & Executive DirectorResponsible For: Providing key leadership to set business growth direction, setting the tone for effective implementation of operational strategies to achieve short term and long term goals for the businessLiaison with: Department Business Leaders in Sales, Corporate Marketing, Food and Beverage, Revenue Management, Information Systems and Capital ProjectsThe Group Chief Operating Officer will report directly to the Executive Chairman & Executive Director and is responsible for providing inspired leadership to our executive and management teams globally. He will be tasked with the setting of a course for operationalising company strategy and translating the course to business success, and mitigating key business risks.Key Areas of focus:Commercial
  • To develop and implement multi-year business and profitable growth strategies for the region to deliver increased market share by managing financial performance, assessing economic factors, demographics trends, and competitive strategy, enhancing the brand and leveraging relationships.
  • To work with the corporate support teams to drive revenue in all areas of the business: e-commerce, group, transient and base room revenues, food and beverage revenues; and maximize other property revenue streams (ie. retail, banquets, catering).
  • To take the lead role in developing strategies, policies & procedures to maximize overall revenues of our hotels.
  • To oversee the implementation of sales strategies, marketing plans, budgets and forecasts at the regional and hotel level.
  • To implement programmes to ensure attainment of business and profit growth in F&B sales.
  • To ensure that the region achieves its revenue and profitability goals.
  • To improve work processes and management methods to enhance ROI and optimize workflow.
  • To continually review and challenge existing strategies and recommend alternative strategies to improve the global portfolio
  • To participate in hotel industry events to project a positive image of the company.
Financial
  • To manage overall financial performance of the business by analyzing and reconciling financial reports, determining trends and areas of opportunity, advising others on cost control methods, and resolving budgetary issues.
Operational Excellence
  • To monitor performance of hotels through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction and, quality audits.
  • To work through with General Managers and Regional Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management to initiate corrective action.
  • To maintain knowledge of product and service quality standards for each brand and conduct ongoing evaluations of property adherence to brand standards.
  • To ensure that training and processes are in place to meet brand standards and which will preserve the asset, including preventive maintenance and ensuring cleanliness of all areas of the property.
  • To ensure all operations have standard operating processes (SOPs) and training to comply with all laws applicable to the business operation.
  • To analyze and mitigate risk by monitoring internal and external risk opportunities to the company, developing action plans, and utilizing the regional teams to execute the plan(s).
  • To set the vision and clear expectations for the properties to achieve guest satisfaction scores and Brand Quality Assurance.
  • To support and promote relevant brand training to develop skills required to meet or exceed guest service standards.
People Acquisition/ Retention Development
  • To champion the acquisition of competitive talent for the company, partnering in the development of company human resources initiatives to attract and retain a high performing diverse workforce.
  • To work with key leadership team to develop and introduce a Hi-Po Talent Identification and Development program as a means to manage resource planning.
Experience and Skills:
  • A track record of working in a fast paced business
  • Extensive team leadership experience with strong leadership capability and the ability to inspire and motivate at all levels.
  • A strong team player with the ability to build strong relationships across a global business with a range of key stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across cultures and organisational levels.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
