, SingaporeJob Family Group: MaritimeWorker Type: RegularPosting Start Date: March 22, 2024Business unit: Downstream and RenewablesExperience Level: Experienced ProfessionalsJob Description:Where you fit inThe role is intended to provide maritime assurance & operational support to Upstream production businesses and P&T (Projects & Technology) Wells, principally for their contracted and operated Marine Assets, including Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU) within the Asia Pacific Middle East (APME) region. It also includes other maritime assurance & operational support activities on behalf of Upstream APME, P&T Projects, P&T Geomatics/Geophysics and other parts of the business as demand requires.The position reports to the Marine Manager (APME) in Singapore, with functional reporting to the Principal Expert, Upstream Standards and Assurance in STASCO (Shell International Trading and Shipping Company).Shell operating units employ some 500 offshore support vessels at any given time, of which a number are MODUs, on contract to Shell or Shell ventures within the APME region for UP (Upstream) and Integrated Gas (IG).What’s the role?
  • Support Global Rig Start-Up Team (GRST) Eastern hemisphere and Global Wet Tow Assurance for towage
  • Support technical evaluation of MODU and maritime vessel selection
  • Drive the delivery and management of the regional P&T Global Rig Start Up Team (GRST) and MODU maritime assurance plan
  • Lead and conduct MODU and vessel inspection for Upstream and P&T in the region as per Requirements for the Quality Assurance of Maritime Vessels
  • Lead and conduct Offshore Maritime Contractor HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) Capability Assessments for vessel technical operators in the region
  • Support assets in conducting port/berth inspections
  • Assist in managing oversight and support delivery of Maritime Contractors HSSE improvement initiatives in the APME region related to Upstream, MODU and/or P&T vessels
  • Ensure that MODU and/or Upstream APME, P&T vessels are processed in the Group Maritime Assurance System
  • Coordinate data analysis, presentations and awareness training related to Upstream, MODU and/or P&T vessel maritime safety related activities
  • Conduct incident investigations when required, and lead safety initiatives in the region.
  • Provide global collaboration across Shipping and Maritime and P&T business, to ensure learnings are captured and shared, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively across Shipping and P&T businesses
  • Provide advice and support to business managers and HSSE professionals in relation to Upstream maritime assurance and MODU maritime assurance
  • Participate as a member of audit/assurance and/or incident investigation team(s) related to Upstream APME, MODU and/or other P&T maritime assurance
  • Provide specialist advice in the event of a maritime crisis and emergency including oil spill response
  • Support development of Authorised Persons for Maritime Safety in the region through building and delivery of structured competency development plans in consultation with the Marine Manager (APME)
  • Drive and support value initiatives for specific Upstream assets within the region
  • Manage regional inspection contracts as Contract Holder
  • Establish and build effective relationships with Upstream and P&T Wells business stakeholders within the region.
What we need from youWe are looking for Maritime Professionals with operational experience in Maritime HSSE assurance. A minimum of 10 years experience in shipping/maritime or oil and gas industry preferred.
  • A Maritime Professional qualification at Class 1 (Deck or Engine), with seagoing experience in senior rank on board Upstream vessels (First Assistant Engineer, Chief Officer, or higher) preferred
  • Experience in Upstream Maritime Logistics is preferred, including operational experience of mobile offshore drilling units, offshore support vessels (including dynamic positioning) and rig moves
  • Experience in maritime incident response, mitigation, investigation and learning (Causal Methodology) is preferred
  • Must maintain valid Offshore Medical and BOSIET certificates to be able to conduct work offshore
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, the ability to speak another language would be an added advantage
