Job DescriptionAs a Resident Physician, the candidate shall be responsible for the following activities:the provision of patient care and overall supervision of day-to-day running of clinical wardsthe supervision and teaching of House Officers, Medical Officers, and Traineesthe management of cold and urgent referrals that may not be specially referred to any consultant by namethe escalation of difficult and complex patient cases to a Consultant on call, where specialist intervention is requiredthe overseeing of write out and endorsement on consultation/referral letters during emergency situations that may arise outside of office hoursthe participation in departmental ward rounds, combined hospital teaching seminars, and clinical case conferencesthe representation on behalf of the Hospital at Coroner's inquests or medico-legal hearings involving patients admitted to their wardsthe involvement in ward rounds at night or outside of office hours when they are on callthe compilation of confidential mortality reports for submission to the Chairman Medical Board through the Head of Departmentthe involvement in night duty where necessary, and commitment to other duties as directed by the Head of Department of the Chairman Medical Board of the hospitalFor surgical disciplines, the Resident Physician may be involved in the following duties:performing elective and emergency operations to the level of complexity permitted by senior staff of the departmentteaching House Officers and Medical Officers basic operative procedures, providing guidance when necessaryRequirementsCandidate shall possess a basic or post-graduate medical qualification from an accredited medical school, that is registrable with the Singapore Medical Council ( ); andHave completed at least 1 year of housemanship and 3 years of medical officer posting (or equivalent).Other ideal qualities/traitsCandidate shall take charge of their learning to provide quality care to all patientsCandidate shall demonstrate good diagnostic and clinical management acumenCandidate shall demonstrate strong teamwork and motivate their team members at workNUH welcomes all interested applicants to send their resume or curriculum vitae (CV) to medical@nuhs.edu.sg.
